Personal statement

After completing my Degree and PGCE (Home Economic and Economics) I spent a couple years as an operations manager in the pharmaceutical industry. I then began my teaching career in West Lothian, moving to a school in East Renfrewshire where I spent a few years before taking up a post as Principal Teacher of Home Economics in a Glasgow City Council school. I was able to lead the growth of the department, offering a plethora of courses catering for all pupils.

In January 2018 I came to Strathclyde University as the PGDE Home Economics Coordinator. With my strong interest in alternative routes into teaching I soon became Course Leader for BSc Education and Curricular Studies with Teaching Qualification (HE and TE), building partnerships with various colleges.

In addition, I am a member of the Scottish Education Working Group (British Nutrition Foundation) where I work with colleagues across the whole education sector.
